This department is in charge of the following administrative and general service duties:-

• plan and set measurable targets for subordinate staff relating to Urban and Rural Planning and Design activities in the State.
• Supervise and monitor the Preparation of Regional Development Plan for the state and Master Plan for urban centers.
• Coordinate the preparation of layout plans for communities.
• Coordinate the formulation and domestication of National Urban and Regional Planning Law in the state.
• Propose and coordinate the review of the State’s Physical Planning Regulations in line with prevailing realities.
• Evaluate performance of subordinate officers against set targets.
• Align plans and set targets with the State Government policies on physical planning and the State extant Town Planning Laws and Regulations.
• Report of achievements based on plans and set targets to the Permanent Secretary and Honourable Commissioner.
• Coordinate advocacy and enlightenment and engagement meetings of stakeholders.
